FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS 

What is an entry?
An entry consists of one image or one photo series. Each individual entry costs $35; each series costs $50. *

What is a series?
A series includes multiple images (up to 20 images) that make up a cohesive related story.

Is there a limit to the number of photos or categories that I can enter?
No, you may enter as many photographs and categories as you like. We suggest no more than 20 category submissions.  

What format should I save my digital images?
You should submit JPEG images saved with a long dimension of at least 1,000 pixels at 72 to 300 dpi. Please try to keep the file size around 2 MB.

Will there be a prizewinner in each category?
Yes, PDN will award a prize in every category, and select a Grand prizewinner from all Category winners.

Can I enter if I live outside of the U.S.?
Definitely.

Will my images be sold?
No. You retain copyright to your photograph and the Sponsors may not sell your photo entry for a fee. All entries may be posted online so that viewers may view all competing entries. And winning entries may be used in connection with the Contest and promotion of the Contest for a period of 24 months from the date winners are notified.

When will the winners be announced?
We will contact all winners in January 2009. We will publish the winning entries on topknotscontest.com, and also feature the work in the 2009 Stock Photo Guide. Please do not call us regarding the status of your entry; if you are selected, we will contact you in late January.
